Women's swimming sweeps all events against Gallaudet

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Elizabethtown enjoyed a big afternoon against Gallaudet, Saturday, winning all 11 events in a 122-69 victory over the Bison at the Alumni Pool.

Erika Cole posted a trifecta of wins in the 200-yard medley relay, 200-yard freestyle and 50-yard freestyle. Teammates Megan Anderson, Cheryl Errichetti, Sadie Hawkins, Sara Lingo and Dru Schneider also had multi-win days.

Cole anchored the Jays' winning 200 medley relay team to open the meet, as Elizabethtown (2-0) claimed the top two finishing positions. Anderson took the backstroke, Schneider the breaststroke and Hawkins the butterfly before Cole completed E-town's winning time of 2:04.12 in the freestyle. The Blue Jays' No. 2 relay of Abigail Mehring, Lingo, Hali Eckenrode and Errichetti were a close runner-up in 2:06.28.

In the 200 free, Cole swam a season-best 2:16.55 to hold off fellow Jays Cate Falkenstein (2:18.03) and Mehring (2:23.18) in a 1-2-3 finish for the hosts. E-town captured 1-2-3 finishes in five of 11 events. The junior from Fairport, N.Y., touched in at 27.34 to win the 50 free ahead of Anderson (28.67).

Freshman Beth Kimball earned her first career win in the 1000 free. Kimball cut almost 35 seconds off last Saturday's performance against Goucher, finishing in 13:40.94.

Lingo dropped time in both of her victories. The sophomore posted a time of 2:23.53 to win the 200 IM, while Blue Jays Caroline Hill and Hope Sury completed the top three. Lingo also picked up over 11 seconds in the 500 free, finishing in 5:39.30.

Hawkins took the win in the 100 fly (1:08.62), while Errichetti captured the 100 free (1:01.70), Anderson the 100 back (1:09.20) and Schneider the 100 breast (1:16.43). The Blue Jays opted to swim exhibitions following Anderson's win in the backstroke with the meet outcome already decided.

Elizabethtown closed with a triumph in the 200 free relay, as Julia Argentati, Errichetti, Mehring and Maddie Lasko put down a 1:54.85.

The Blue Jays will try to extend their dual winning streak to three next Saturday when they travel to Catholic for a 1 p.m. start.
