Drew defeats Blue Jays 147-100

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Thirteen season-best times were realized Saturday afternoon in the Elizabethtown College women's swim team's 147-100 loss to Landmark foe Drew at the Alumni Pool.

Erika Cole, Sadie Hawkins, Sara Lingo and Dru Schneider each had a pair of runner-up finishes for the Blue Jays (2-2, 1-2 Landmark).

Cole was second in both sprint free events, trimming a tenth of a second off her previous season-best in the 50 free (26.63). The Fairport, N.Y., native competed in the 100 free for the first time this season, where she recorded a time of 1:01.24 to lead teammate Megan Anderson in a 2-3 finish.

Hawkins took second in both butterfly events and registered season-best times in both. In the 200, she cut more than 3.5 seconds with a 2:33.01 and in the 100, the sophomore from Paupack picked up .75 (1:07.43).

Lingo placed second in her 100 backstroke season debut (1:07.04) and also captured second in the 200 IM (2:26.28).

Schneider enjoyed a nice pickup in the 200 breast, dropping more than four seconds to swim a 2:50.94. The senior was a close second to the Rangers' Stephanie Cushman in the 100 breast.

Other individual top times were established by Molly Templin (13:52.51; 1000 free), Julia Argentati (2:18.95; 200 free), Abigail Mehring (1:10.70; 100 back), Cheryl Errichetti (27.98; 50 free), Anderson (1:01.41; 100 free and 6:04.12; 500 free), Cate Falkenstein (6:06.58; 500 free) and Hali Eckenrode (1:13.34; 100 fly).

The 200 free relay team of Maddie Lasko, Errichetti, Anderson and Cole swam a 1:51.62 to close the meet --a new season-best by just over a tenth of a second.

While the Jays were able to lower times in a number events, they were held without a victory for the second week in a row. The Rangers (3-3, 2-1), who finished fourth at the Landmark Championships last season, produced the top time in each of the 14 events.

Elizabethtown will try to break a two-meet winless streak Monday evening at 6 against Lebanon Valley.
