Leib ties for 15th at Gettysburg Fall Invitational

ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. -- Sophomore Garrett Leib shot a career best 81, Wednesday, as the Elizabethtown College men's golf team competed in the Gettysburg Fall Invitational at Hanover Country Club.

Leib tied for 15th-place on the leaderboard with three others at 10-over on the par 71, 6,505-yard layout. The round bested Leib's previous low of 82, set twice during his freshman season. The first of those 82s came in the same Gettysburg Fall Invitational.

Fellow senior Craig Eidle finished with the second lowest scoring round for the Blue Jays, an 18-over 89. It marked Eidle's third round in the 80s in four tournaments this fall.

Sophomore Alex Albenzi registered a 92, senior Zach Dennin shot 104 as E-town's final scorer, and junior Rick Stone came home with a 106.

Elizabethtown placed 11th of 12 competing teams after shooting a combined score of 366 (+82).

Dickinson and Messiah tied for the team title at 35-over 319, but the Red Devils took top honors on a comparison of fifth player scorecards. The Falcons did claim the individual medalist, however, as Bryce Watkins owned the tiebreaker over McDaniel's Christian Garruppo with a lower back nine score after both players shot 2-over 73s.

The Blue Jays pick up the clubs again Tuesday at LedgeRock Golf Club when they'll take part in the Alvernia Fall Invitational.
