Nelson leads Blue Jays at LVC Last Chance Run Fast

ANNVILLE, Pa. -- A handful of runners from the Elizabethtown College women's cross country team took part in the Last Chance Run Fast Invitational hosted by Lebanon Valley College on Friday. Emily Nelson was the top finisher for the Blue Jays.

Elizabethtown's top three scorers at the meet, Nelson, Justine Itterly, and Kinsey Kliment, all ran season-best 6,000-meter times for the Blue Jays.

Nelson, coming off a 26:45 at Rochester on October 14, was close to dropping a minute off her previous time on Friday. The junior, running her first year of cross country for E-town, was 12th overall in 25:55.2. It was Nelson's first sub-26 minute 6k in three races. Her previous season best at the distance was 26:20 run at Dickinson's Long Course Invitational on September 30.

Itterly was the second Jays' runner to finish. Like her teammate, the freshman was close to dropping a whole minute off her previous best 6,000-meter time. She was 16th overall at LVC in 26:16.9. Kliment came in behind Itterly in 26:20.8, also a season-best after running 26:26 at Rochester.

O'livia McIntosh and Brianna Kreiss also contributed to the point total for Elizabethtown, both running their first 6k's of the season. McIntosh was 22nd in 26:45.6 and Kreiss finished 24th at 26:47.5.

Liz Driver and Courtney Gelb also competed for E-town. Driver and Gelb each turned in season-best performances as well.

The women's cross country team now prepares for the Landmark Conference Championships at Juniata next Saturday, October 28. Elizabethtown is going for its fourth consecutive Landmark title and 11th overall in a row. The women's championship race will go off at 12 p.m.
