Gerstenbacher top ten for men's XC at Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Samuel Gerstenbacher posted his second top-ten finish of the season on Saturday at the Rochester Yellowjacket Invitational. The men's cross country team finished sixth overall with 182 points.

The sophomore ran 5:23 pace and came through the 2k split at 6:27.3. In a competitive field, Gerstenbacher kept the pace going and took tenth in the end at 26:42.8.

Tyler Alansky took 31st in 27:15.3 and was also under 5:30 pace, at 5:29.

Tom Fitzgerald, Ryan Rippeon, and Liam Coverdale were the other point scorers for E-town. Fitzgerald was 42nd, Rippenon 48th, and Coverdale 51st.

Fitzgerald ran an 8k time of 27:36.5, Rippeon finished in 27:46.5, and Coverdale's final time was 27:52.1.

The 182 points between the five runners was sixth out of 17 scored teams.

Elizabethtown has one final meet before the Landmark Conference Championships on October 28 at Juniata. The Blue Jays will have representation at the LVC Last Chance Run Fast Invitational on Friday, October 20 at 4:30 p.m.
