Marshall, Foery lead men's swimming at Frostburg State

FROSTBURG, Md. -- Casey Marshall won the 50- and 100-meter butterfly, David Foery captured the 100-meter freestyle and both contributed to Elizabethtown's winning 400-meter freestyle relay as the Blue Jays fell to Frostburg State, 148-113, in their final tune up before the Landmark Championships Friday night.

Marshall and Tommy Kuhn snagged the top two spots in the 100 fly, with the Blue Jay freshman winning in a time of 1:01.22. Kuhn, a sophomore, recorded a 1:03.14.

The same duo went 1-2 in the 50 fly with freshman Alec Schneider giving Elizabethtown a sweep of the top three spots. All three swimmers broke the 28-second mark, while their closest competition from FSU was at a 29.56. Marshall, from Dover, Pennsylvania, clocked a 27.13. Kuhn had a 27.86 and Schneider a 27.91.

Marshall, Schneider and Foery got help from Sam Hirshberg to win the 400 free relay in 3:51.73.

Elizabethtown finishes 4-4-1 in duals with the loss to the Bobcats. The Blue Jays also got runner-up finishes from Jake Stonecipher (1500-meter freestyle), Foery (200 free), Kieran Koehler (50 and 100 breast), Schneider (50 free), Ben Spangler (400 IM) and its 400 medley relay team of Marshall, Kieran Koehler, Kuhn and Foery.

The Blue Jays will begin preparations for the Landmark Championships, Feb. 17-19, at the Germantown Indoor Swim Center in Boyds, Md.
