Frostburg State defeats women's swimming in dual finale

FROSTBURG, Md. -- Frostburg State won all 14 events Friday night to defeat the Elizabethtown women's swim team 179-82 in the Blue Jays' final dual of 2016-17.

Freshman Sara Lingo notched four second-place finishes for E-town, two individual and two in relays.

Lingo (butterfly) started the meet by teaming with Megan Anderson (backstroke), Dru Schneider (breaststroke) and Erika Cole (freestyle) in the 400-meter medley relay. The Blue Jay quartet put forth a 5:08.01 to place second to the Bobcats.

Two events later, Lingo took second in the 200 free with a time of 2:23.23. The Milford, Delaware, native would later claim the runner-up spot in the 400 individual medley (5:45.37) and partner with Maddie Lasko, Maddie Ripley and Cole in the 400 free relay.

Though wins eluded Elizabethtown Friday, Lingo was one of many Blue Jays to nearly derail Frostburg State's dominance.

Anderson placed second in the 50 back (35.32), while Schneider came within 0.2 of the win in the 50 breast (38.68).

Other runner-up finishers for the Blue and Gray were: Sadie Hawkins (100 fly, 1:17.75), Cole (50 free, 29.62) and Karlie Kimball (100 back, 1:18.30).

Elizabethtown concluded the 2016-17 season with a 4-6 dual record. The Blue Jays have three weeks to get ready for the Landmark Championships, which will take place in Boyds, Md., Feb. 17-19.
