Amspacher top Blue Jay at Moravian Spring Invitational

Results

DANIELSVILLE, Pa. – Adam Amspacher's round of 85 (+13) was good for a 23rd-place finish Tuesday as the Elizabethtown College golf team competed at the Moravian Spring Invitational.

Only three Blue Jays made the trip to Woodstone Country Club in Danielsville, Pa. Chuck Johnston shot a 90 (+18) and Rick Stone 111 (+39).

None of the three were among the three who represented the Blue Jays on the same course at the Moravian Fall Invitational back on Sept. 14.

Amspacher improved by four shots over his 89 in the spring opener at the LVC Dutchmen Invitational just over a week ago. The Glenville, Pa., native registered four straight pars to finish the back nine and locked down four more during a five-hole stretch on the front nine.

Johnston played his latest round two shots over his season average, but did finish with a pair of birdies. The junior carded a two on No. 13, a par-3 playing 150 yards. Two holes later he birdied the 288-yard, par-4, 15th.

Elizabethtown did not factor into the team scoring due to not having the requisite four players.

Moravian's 'Blue' team won the title by 14 strokes over Muhlenberg. The Greyhounds' total of 291 was just 3-over par, and was bolstered by individual medalist Dan Leppert and Tyler Smith's even-par rounds of 72. Leppert won the tournament on the USGA recommended fourth tiebreaker. Lebanon Valley, Cabrini and DeSales made up the rest of the top five.

The golf team is scheduled to host the Elizabethtown Blue Jay Classic Thursday at Hershey Country Club East.
