Golf opens spring schedule at LVC Dutchmen Invite

LEBANON, Pa. – All four of Elizabethtown's scoring golfers shot in the 80s Monday during its spring opener at the LVC Dutchmen Invite, where the Blue Jays finished 10th of 20 teams.

Players battled strong wind gusts throughout the afternoon as they made their way around Lebanon Country Club's par 72 course that played at 6,562 yards.

Freshman Felix Goettfert led Elizabethtown with an 85 (+13), which placed him in a tie for 28th on the leaderboard.

Kyle Hakun completed his round in 87 (+15) to tie for 37th, while Adam Amspacher and Chuck Johnston both shot 89 (+17) to tie for 50th in the field of 101 entries.

Craig Eidle (92), Rick Stone (94) and Tyler Goldberg (career-best 97) also teed it up for the Blue and Gray. E-town took the final spot inside the top 10 by two strokes over FDU-Florham.

Moravian edged Neumann for the team title. The Greyhounds, anchored by individual medalist Jim Maru's 2-over 74, finished with a 36-over 324. Neumann was three shots off the pace at a 327 (+39). Penn State Harrisbug (334) and Stevenson (336) took third and fourth, respectively, while Hood and Susquehanna tied for fifth with 337.

The Blue Jays will take part in the Moravian Spring Invitational at the Woodstone Country Club in Danielsville, Pa., on Tuesday, April 5.
