ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Casey Marshall contributed to Elizabethtown's 200-yard medley relay victory and bolted to a win in the 100-yard butterfly, but it was not enough to slow a powerhouse Catholic squad in a 185-76 loss at the Alumni Pool Saturday.

The Blue Jays won a thriller to open the meet, capturing the 200 medley relay by eight one-hundredths of a second over the Cards. Brian Sylvestri, Guillaume Gouronc, Marshall and Alec Schneider teamed up to swim a season best time of 1:44.68 ahead of Catholic's 1:44.76.

Marshall continued his strong start to the meet an event later when he shattered the team's former season-best time in the 1000 freestyle with an 11:04.48. Marshall sliced nearly 20 seconds off the previous mark of 11:24.31 and moved into eighth place in the Landmark.

Late in the meet, Marshall was victorious in the 100 fly in 53.36. That was good for fourth quickest in the conference to date this season.

The Jays' talented rookie also aided teammates Nick Petrella, Sam Hirshberg and David Foery in cracking the 1:35 barrier in the 200 free relay, as the team established a new season-best of 1:34.99.

Gouronc was involved in a hotly contested 100 breaststroke and though he wound up second, his 1:05.28 was good for a new team-best. Schneider, a freshman from Spring City, Pennsylvania, collected a season best of 51.13 in the 100 free.

Petrella turned in a season-best of 2:08.70 in the 200 back, as did Jake Stonecipher in the 200 fly with a 2:33.21.

Elizabethtown's record stands at an even 2-2 (1-1 Landmark) following Saturday's defeat. Catholic, meanwhile, remained unbeaten at 4-0 (3-0).

The Blue Jays travel to Madison, N.J., a week from today to face Drew and FDU-Florham in a double dual at Drew. Meet time is 1 p.m.
