Men's cross country finishes ninth at DeSales

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- Keegan McDonough once again paced the Elizabethtown College men's cross country team, this time at the DeSales Invitational on Saturday. The Blue Jays placed ninth as a team out of 38 with 228 points.

McDonough legged out the 8,000-meter course in 26:19 to tie his season-best set last week at SUNY Geneseo's Mike Woods Invitational. McDonough finished 18th overall, just behind Bryce Descavish of Dickinson and Brad Kilheeney of DeSales.

Fellow senior Andrew Lesko was next to cross for Elizabethtown. The Mohnton, Pa. native ran 27:05 and took 43rd. Samuel Gerstenbacher was a step behind the upperclassmen at 27:06, good for 45th.

Tom Fitzgerald was the fourth Blue Jay to finish in the 58-spot at 27:28. Nate Liebsch finished just ahead of Ryan Rippeon to round out E-town's scoring. Liebsch was 64th, while Rippeon's season-best and career-best 8k was 65th on the day.

Elizabethtown was the top-finishing Landmark school at the invite. Juniata was one place behind in tenth while Susquehanna was 13th and Drew was 28th. Saturday's field included 250 runners.

The Blue Jays have one final meet on the schedule before the 2016 Landmark Conference Championship meet on Oct. 29. The LVC Fast Chance Run Fast Invitational is next Friday, Oct. 21 at 4:30 p.m.
