ALLENTOWN, Pa. -- Sophomore Felix Goettfert took sixth to give Elizabethtown golf its first top 10 individual finisher of the fall season and Kyle Hakun was 12th Monday afternoon at the Muhlenberg Fall Invitational.

The Blue Jays took 14th of 19 teams at the tournament, played on the par 70, 6415-yard Lehigh Country Club.

Goettfert's 3-over par 73 put him in a six-way tie for sixth on the leaderboard and signaled a new career best by seven strokes. Monday is the first time Goettfert has been in the 70s in his career and marked Elizabethtown's best score since current senior Chuck Johnston and Ryan Laudeman '15 shot similar scores during the 2013 fall season.

Goettfert, who had five pars on the front nine going out, was tremendous coming in. He put forth birdies on the 498-yard, par 5, No. 11 and the 340-yard, par 4, No. 14, along with six pars and a bogey for a 1-under 34 to complete his round.

Goettfert's score tied him with 14 other Blue Jays for the 22nd best round in program history.

Hakun was just a shot back of his teammate, carding a 4-over 74 to tie for 12th.

The Springfield, Pennsylvania, native enjoyed his best round since shooting a 75 at the Penn State Harrisburg Invitational as a sophomore.

Hakun led all Blue Jays with 14 pars in the tournament and threw in a birdie at No. 12. He was just one over on the back nine.

Johnston shot 88 (+18) and Craig Eidle 94 (+24) to round out E-town's scoring. Eidle birdied No. 3, a 215-yard par 3.

Also playing for the Jays Monday was freshman Alex Albenzi, who finished with a 97.

DeSales' Schuyler Hart won the tournament with a 3-under par 67, but host Muhlenberg claimed the team title on the strength of a runner-up finish from Ian Simon (68, -2) and third from John Froberg (70, E).

The Mules broke 300 (290) for the tournament, shooting a combined 10-over par. They cruised to the win over Eastern Lebanon Valley and Moravian, which each scored a 304 (+24) to tie for second.

Elizabethtown has just two tournaments remaining on its fall slate, with the Franklin & Marshall Fall Invitational next up on Monday, Oct. 17, at Bent Creek Country Club.
