Three compete at Messiah Falcon Fall Classic

Results

CARLISLE, Pa. – Adam Amspacher was the top finishing Elizabethtown golfer in 21st and Rick Stone established a new career best round as the Blue Jays took part in Monday's Messiah Falcon Fall Classic at Carlisle Country Club.

Mondays haven't mixed well with E-town during the fall season as class schedules have often conflicted with many of the local collegiate tournaments. Such was the case again in Carlisle, where only three Blue Jays played, rendering the team ineligible to appear in the team standings.

Of the three players able to compete, Amspacher showed best with an 8-over par 79 that tied him for 21st at day's end. Amspacher's front nine included five pars and a birdie on No. 9, a par 5 playing 501 yards.

Stone sliced seven strokes off his previous low score of 96 to play his first sub-90 round in 89. Stone, a native of Cumbola, Pa., finished with four pars and also registered a birdie, though his came on the 489-yard, par 5 15th.

Junior Chuck Johnston ventured Carlisle C.C. in 92. While it was a tough afternoon for Johnston on the whole, his two birdies –one on No. 5, a par 4, and the other on 15– led Elizabethtown's entries.

Moravian cleared all competing teams by 12 strokes for the team title. The Greyhounds score of 295 was an impressive combined 11-over par. They were followed by Muhlenberg (307), Stevenson 'Green' (308), Eastern (311) and Hood (317) in the top five. Messiah's Jordan Kirsch won the individual title with a 2-under par 69. Finishing runner up was the only other player to shoot under par, Moravian's Evan Dickinson, with a 1-under 70.

The Blue Jays return to action at the LVC Invitational a week from today, but with the College on Fall Break, E-town should be in position to field a full lineup.
