Women's XC finishes 29th at NCAA Championships

WINNECONNE, Wis. — The Elizabethtown College women's cross country team weathered the cold Saturday morning at the NCAA Championships at Lake Breeze Golf Club and placed 29th with 684 points. Casey Quinto paced the Blue Jays, taking 89th in a field of 280 runners.

Quinto, one of three All-Mideast Region runners for Elizabethtown last weekend at the Mideast Regional, was the first Blue Jay runner to finish for the second straight race. Quinto ran 22:17.7 in the 36th edition of the women's championship race to place a team-best 89th in her first national meet.

Lydia Dearie, competing in her second straight NCAA Championship meet, gained 21 spots over the final 1,000 meters to place 161st. The second of the three All-Regions, Dearie finished in 22:44.6.

Also running in her first championship race, Brenna McNamee picked up 13 spots over the last leg of the race to take 179th. Her final time was 22:51.7.

Maria Anderson and Kelsey Brady were Elizabethtown's fourth and fifth runners Saturday, with Anderson taking 240th in 23:18.9 and Brady finishing 251st in 23:30.

E-town was also 29th in 2013 at Hanover (Ind.).
