Capria takes 1000 free, Blue Jays fall to Scranton

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Frank Capria made it three for his last three in the 1000-yard freestyle, emerging as the Blue Jays' lone victor in a 137-58 loss to Scranton Saturday afternoon at the Alumni Pool.

Capria blasted off the block to an early lead once again, pulling away for a winning time of 11:13.03.

The Blue Jays (2-4, 1-2 Landmark) received a season-best 200 free time from freshman David Foery, who was just out-touched by Patrick Blaser at the wall. Foery, the reigning Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week, swam 1:53.54, over 1.5 seconds faster than his 1:55.21 against York (Pa.) in Elizabethtown's season-opening meet.

Foery also took second to the Royals' (3-5, 1-2 Landmark) Edward Westlake in the 100 free, finishing within three-tenths of his season best after registering a 51.13.

Kieran Koehler was second to Michael Ambrose in the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.19, while Shane Bahn swam his quickest time of the year with a 1:10.57 to place fourth.

Sophomore Ramon Rios was third in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:01.92 and Capria's 5:35.04 was third quickest in the 500 free.

Conner Land set his season-best in the 200 free (2:21.39), while Bahn recorded his second season-fast time of the day in the 100 free (56.88). Clayton Leab (1:09.54) and Bahn (1:10.57) would also secure their fastest times of the season in the 100 breast.

Westlake won both sprint freestyle races, the 50 and 100, for the Royals, while Blaser backed up his 200 free victory with one in the 500 free.

Elizabethtown's next dual will be in 2015 following the school's winter break. The Jays will resume their season at Washington (Md.) Saturday, Jan. 17, at 1 p.m.
