Capria, Foery winners in Blue Jays 139-64 loss at Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, Pa. – A veteran and a rookie continued their strong seasons Tuesday evening in Elizabethtown's 139-64 defeat at Lebanon Valley. Senior Frank Capria won his third straight long-distance race and David Foery was a double event winner for the third meet in a row.

Capria built a three-second lead after the first lap of the 800-meter freestyle and increased his advantage the rest of the way for a victory in 9:49.25. Capria was the only swimmer to break 10 minutes in the event, as he defeated Lebanon Valley's (3-3) Clay Heebner by more than 14 seconds. Capria, of Northborough, Massachusetts, has won three straight long-distance events after capturing the 1000-yard freestyle at FDU-Florham (Nov. 15) and against Drew (Nov. 21).

Foery, a freshman from York, kept racking up wins in the 100 and 200 free. For the third consecutive meet, Foery posted the top time in each, and his win in the 100 was his fourth in five tries this season. Tuesday he bested the five-man field in the 200 with a time of 2:08.58. In the 100, he placed two seconds between himself and runner-up Garrett Collins of LVC to register a winning time of 57.20.

Ian Lloyd won twice for the Dutchmen (200 individual medley and 100 butterfly), while LVC also got wins from both of its relay teams (200 medley and 200 free), Ari Gouskos (50 free), Bryce Betz (100 backstroke), Christopher Kurtz (400 free) and Robert Burkhart (100 breaststroke).

The loss snapped E-town's two-meet winning streak and dropped the Blue Jays to 2-3 on the season.

Kieran Koehler finished third in the 50 free with a 26.53, which converted to a season-best and team-best 23.90 in a yard pool. Capria's runner-up 400-meter free time of 4:47.24 also converted to a season and team quick of 5:24.62 in the 500-yard freestyle.

Elizabethtown hosts Scranton on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 1 p.m.
