David Foery was strong in his debut for the Elizabethtown men's swim team, winning the 100-yard freestyle and taking second in the 200, as the Blue Jays dropped a 127-44 decision to York (Pa.) in their season opener at the Alumni Pool Saturday.
Foery was the only event winner for the Blue Jays (0-1), taking the 100 free in 51.32, just ahead of York's Morgan Schreiber.
The West York product also finished runner-up in the 200 free, clocking in at 1:55.21, and swam the freestyle leg of E-town's runner-up 200 medley relay team with
Ramon Rios (back),
Kieran Koehler (breast) and
Frank Capria (fly) that finished second in 1:47.97.
Capria was third in the 1000 free with a time of 11:23.98, while Koehler swam the third fastest time in the 100 breast (1:06.93).
Elizabethtown faces new Landmark Conference foe Susquehanna in Selinsgrove next Saturday at 2 p.m.
