Women's soccer defeats Moravian for sixth straight win

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Four different players scored goals for the Elizabethtown College women's soccer team on Tuesday as the Blue Jays claimed a 4-2 victory for its sixth straight win, which is a season high. The win also helps E-town keep pace with Catholic atop the Landmark Conference standings with only two league games remaining.

Kirsten Schall, Moravian's (7-7-1, 2-2-1 Landmark) best offensive weapon and the conference's leading scorer, had the Greyhounds in front early 58 seconds into the game.

The one-goal lead didn't last long, though, as Trisha Clark brought Elizabethtown (11-3, 4-1 Landmark) even in the third minute with a shot from outside the 18-yard box that found the upper right corner of the goal.

Kaceyanne Cerankowski made it two straight unanswered goals when she netted her team-leading tenth of the season at the 23:00 mark, scoring on a header.

Schall then squared things up at 2-2 in the 40th minute as the game went into halftime deadlocked at the same score.

Minutes out of the break, Lauren Berry sent E-town back in front with her seventh of the season, tapping home a cross from Cerankowski in the 49th minute. Deanna Slater nearly doubled the lead moments later, but her attempt was saved.

The next shot for the Jays would not be stopped as Maddie Burkhardt scored her first goal since Sept. 20 on a set play. Maria Boretti provided the assist on Burkhardt's sixth of the year.

After Schall's goal in the 40th minute, the Elizabethtown defense did not allow another shot on goal the rest of the game. Dana Robidoux made one save for her 11th win, which ties a career high.

The women's soccer team hosts Drew on Saturday, October 25 for senior day. Game time is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
