Late Rally Gives Blue Jays 2-1 Win Over Eastern

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Amy Bunting scored the winning goal off a corner kick with 6:55 left as Elizabethtown College rallied for a 2-1 victory over Eastern University in a non-conference women's soccer match on Thursday night at Ira R. Herr Field.

Bunting knocked home the corner kick of Kristin Eck for her second goal of the season, giving the Blue Jays (9-8 overall) the victory over the Eagles (7-7-2 overall).

After a scoreless first half, the Eagles took a 1-0 lead at 55:54 when Tess Beckwith took a through pass from Bethany Engle, drew out the keeper and put home her sixth goal of the season.

The lead stood until a soft back pass by the defense to the Eastern keeper was picked off by Laura Wingert, who moved in and drilled home her sixth goal of the season to tie the game at 1-1 with 16:05 to play.

Both teams showed tentative footing on the muddy playing field, and the teams combined to muster just 15 shots on the evening, with Elizabethtown taking eight. The Eagles finished with a 4-3 edge in corner kicks, and committed nine fouls to two by the Blue Jays.

Jess Manchak earned the win in goal for the Blue Jays by making four saves, while Alysia Goodman finished with one save for the Eagles.
