ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Albright College scored on its only two shots of the game to defeat Elizabethtown College 2-0 in Commonwealth Conference women's soccer action at Ira R. Herr Field on Saturday afternoon.
Alexa Talbot scored at 35:07 and Emma Tutino followed at 39:15 for the Lions (4-6-2 overall, 1-1-0 Commonwealth), who withstood 16 shots from the Blue Jays (5-7-0 overall, 1-1-0 Commonwealth) to earn their first win in 13 all-time meetings.
Talbot put home a free kick by Kim Spataro to give the Lions a 1-0 lead with 9:53 left in the first half, and Tutino extended the lead to 2-0 with 5:45 left in the half as her shot from 15 yards sneaked under the crossbar.
In the second half, Lion keeper Olivia Giuliano stood tall as she made leaping saves on shots by
Erin Scott and
Kelsey Boehmer, and made a point-blank stop on Katelyn Roderick to preserve the shutout.
Giuliano finished with eight saves for Albright, while
Jess Manchak played goal in the first half and
Kristen Kelly the second half for Elizabethtown.
