Clark and Specht are USILA All-America Honorable Mention picks for second straight year

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Joe Clark and Mike Specht shared a field for four years. Now they're sharing a first.

Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse's leading duo were named USILA/Nike All-America Honorable Mention for the second straight year, Wednesday, making them the first two-time All-Americans in program history.

Clark, an attackman from Hershey, was the top scorer in the Landmark Conference in 2017, with 60 points --his third straight 60-point season. The Blue Jays' top offensive threat also led the league in assists (23), and ranked fourth in goals (37) and shots on goal (65).

Clark became just the second player in team history to eclipse 200 career points in a win over Susquehanna in late March, joining all-time leading scorer Aaron Weber (251). The four-time all-conference honoree, 2014 MAC Commonwealth Rookie of the Year and 2016 USILA Scholar All-America selection ended his storied career second in points (227) and goals (136), and third in assists (91) and shots (393) at Elizabethtown.

Specht produced a career-best year with 31 goals and 19 assists for 50 points on his way to All-Landmark First Team recognition for a third consecutive season.

The Jackson, New Jersey, native has been a rock in the midfield for the Blue Jays over the course of his career with 91 goals (fifth all-time), 53 assists (fifth) and 144 points (sixth). Specht ranked third in the conference in assists this season, while also totaling the fourth most points, sixth most goals and sixth most shots on goal (57).

Clark and Mike Specht, who along with Nick Specht, are headed to the USILA/Nike North-South All-Star Game at Providence College on May 26, are not only the first multiple-time All-Americans in program history, but give the Blue Jays All-Americans in consecutive seasons for the first time.

Prior to Clark and Specht receiving Honorable Mention accolades in 2016, Elizabethtown had just two former All-Americans in hall of famer Frankie Puzzangara (HM, 2007) and Weber (HM, 2010).
