Detweiler named Landmark Women's Indoor Track Senior Scholar Athlete

TOWSON, Md. -- Kelsey Detweiler will go down as one of the Elizabethtown College women's track & field team's all-time sprinters. After capping off her indoor season with a relay school record, Detweiler was named the Landmark Conference's Women's Indoor Track & Field Senior Scholar Athlete after excelling both on the track and in the classroom.

Detweiler enjoyed her most successful indoor season to date, which included moving into second all-time in the 200-meter dash and fifth in program history in the 400-meter dash.

At the 2017 Landmark Conference Indoor Championships at Susquehanna, Detweiler added another three All-Landmark Conference performances to her resume. The two-seed in the 200m going into the meet, Detweiler ran a personal best 26.70 in the final and took silver, finishing just .15 shy of breaking the school record. In the 400m, the Lower Dauphin graduate was also second, running 1:00.84, fifth all-time.

She will also finish her indoor career second all-time in the 60-meter dash at 8.19.

Versatility has been a part of Detweiler's running repertoire with her ability to also provide a leg on the team's 4x200m and 4x400m relays. At the Landmark meet, Detweiler ran the second leg of the winning 4x400-meter relay, earning her first career indoor gold medal. Elizabethtown also went on to win its first-ever Landmark Conference indoor championship, edging Moravian 165.5 to 161.5.

Detweiler has been a part of two of the six fastest 4x200-meter relays in school history as well as three of the eight fastest 4x400-meter relays. She competed at Tufts Final Qualifying Meet a week after the league championships, where the distance medley relay team crushed the program's previous record. Detweiler ran the 400m leg.

A business administration major at Elizabethtown with a marketing concentration, Detweiler has been a two-year captain for the Blue Jays and also played two years of field hockey. She registered the track and field team's highest cumulative GPA through the fall semester.

The Landmark Conference selects 20 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics. Landmark Senior Scholar Athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of conference officers, athletic directors, and sports information directors.
