Brett Bird has joined the Elizabethtown men's lacrosse staff as an assistant coach for the 2015 season.
Bird, who is enrolled at the Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, was the head coach at Jordan High School in Sandy, Utah, before coming east this summer.
As a player at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah, Bird was an All-Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference (RMLC) First Team member and a Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) All-America Third Team Face-off Specalist in 2007. He added an All-RMLC Honorable Mention honor in 2010 and secured a Second Team spot in 2011.
Bird capped his career by helping the Griffins win their second straight RMLC championship in 2012. The Murray, Utah, native finished his senior season with 10 goals and 17 assists for 27 points.
Bird played on three RMLC championship teams and saw Westminster qualify for four MCLA tournaments, advancing as far as the semifinals in 2010.
In 74 career games, Bird recorded 55 goals, 38 assists and 93 points. He totaled more than 100 ground balls, including a career-high 49 in 2010.
Bird, a former team captain and student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC) president, also earned Academic All-American and National Scholar Athlete recognition from the MCLA, and was a nominee for the Westminster Trustees Character Award.
Bird received his bachelor of science in biology and chemistry from Westminster in 2012. He currently resides in Hershey.
